YU (President CHOI Oe-chool) Ssireum alumni are continuing their tradition of giving back, donating to support their alma mater and future athletes.


At 2 p.m. on the 11th, the YU Ssireum Alumni Association (President LEE Dae-jin)  held a donation ceremony at YU, contributing KRW 10 million to the university’s development fund. The ceremony was attended by President CHOI Oe-chool, YOON Jeong-hyeon, Director of External Cooperation, LEE Gyeong-tak, Dean of Student Affairs, KIM Chun-young, Associate Dean of Student Affairs, alongside LEE Dae-jin, Head Coach HEO Yong, and Coach LEE Seung-ho.


The alumni's ongoing generosity has resulted in a cumulative donation of KRW 52 million, which is being used to enhance training facilities and support student-athletes.


LEE Dae-jin, President of the YU Ssireum Alumni Association, stated, “We wanted to give back for the support we received during our time with the team and help future athletes thrive in an even better environment. We'll continue to cheer for YU Ssireum as they uphold their legacy as the nation's top team.”


President CHOI Oe-chool expressed gratitude, saying, “We deeply appreciate the heartfelt support from our Ssireum alumni. YU will continue to invest in our student-athletes, ensuring they build on the proud tradition of excellence. This spirit of giving will inspire us to nurture future leaders who contribute to society.”


 YU’s Ssireum team has solidified its status as the top university team, winning consecutive titles in prestigious competitions such as the National Sports Festival and the Korean Sport & Olympic Committee Chairman’s Cup National Ssireum Championship. In 2024, they achieved a back-to-back victory in the University Jangsa Ssireum Championship, earning recognition as the Best University Team and further cementing their reputation as a powerhouse in collegiate ssireum.
